This 9-day Japan itinerary offers a rich blend of cultural exploration, scenic landscapes, festive celebrations, and entertainment experiences. Upon arrival in Tokyo, you are transferred to your hotel for rest and relaxation. Day 2 features a private full-day Tokyo city tour, including Senso-ji Temple, Nakamise Street, Tokyo Skytree, and the Imperial Palace, followed by Odaiba Rainbow Fireworks and New Year’s Eve festivities at Tokyo Tower. Day 3 highlights a private excursion to Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station, a scenic Lake Ashi cruise in Hakone, and midnight New Year’s fireworks at Hakone Shrine. On Day 4, travel to Kyoto via bullet train, followed by sightseeing in Kyoto and Nara on Day 5, including Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizudera, Nara Park, and Todai-ji Temple. Day 6 explores Kyoto further with Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Tenryuji Temple, Chion-in bell ceremony, Nijo Castle, and Nishiki Market. Days 7 and 8 cover Osaka city highlights, including Dotonbori, Umeda Sky Building, Osaka Aquarium, Osaka Castle, and Universal Studios Japan. Upon arrival at either Narita or Haneda International Airport in Tokyo (exact time to be advised), a private driver will meet you at the airport. You will be transferred to your hotel, Hotel Wing International Premium Tokyo Yotsuya (double room – 16 sqm) or a similar 3-star hotel. Check-in time is from 3:00 PM onward. The rest of the day is free to relax and freshen up after your journey. Dinner will be at your own expense. Overnight stay in Tokyo.
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your English-speaking guide (ESG) in the hotel lobby for a private full-day Tokyo city tour. You will begin with a visit to Senso-ji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest temple, and explore the traditional Nakamise Shopping Street. Next, you will head to Tokyo Skytree and ascend to the 350-meter observation deck. A photo stop at the Imperial Palace is included. Lunch will be on your own. In the evening, enjoy the Odaiba Rainbow Fireworks scheduled at 7:00 PM, followed by a sparkling New Year’s Eve celebration around Tokyo Tower. After the festivities, you will be dropped back at your hotel. Dinner is on your own. Overnight stay in Tokyo.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then meet your ESG in the lobby for a full-day private excursion to Mt. Fuji and Hakone. You will travel to Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station, located at 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) above sea level, where you can enjoy scenic mountain views. Lunch will be on your own. In the afternoon, take a relaxing Lake Ashi Cruise in Hakone, offering panoramic views of the lake and Mt. Fuji. At midnight, witness a special New Year’s fireworks display at Hakone Shrine. After the celebration, return to your hotel in Tokyo. Dinner will be on your own. Overnight stay in Tokyo.
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer by private car to Tokyo Station. From there, you will travel to Kyoto via bullet train in 2nd class. Upon arrival at Kyoto Station, a private car will transfer you to your hotel, Hotel Androoms Kyoto Shichijo (double/twin – 16 sqm) or a similar 3-star hotel. Check-in and enjoy the evening at your leisure. You may explore the local area or enjoy optional activities on your own. Both lunch and dinner will be at your own expense. Overnight stay in Kyoto.
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your ESG in the lobby for a full-day private guided tour of Kyoto and Nara. Begin with a visit to Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of red torii gates and a popular spot for New Year shrine visits. Then visit Kiyomizudera, the "Pure Water Temple", known for its hillside wooden stage and panoramic views. Lunch will be on your own. In the afternoon, travel to Nara to visit Nara Park, home to friendly free-roaming deer, followed by a visit to Todai-ji Temple, which houses Japan’s largest bronze Buddha statue. After the tour, return to your hotel. Dinner will be on your own. Overnight stay in Kyoto.
Following breakfast, meet your ESG in the lobby for another full-day tour of Kyoto. You will start the day with a visit to the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and Tenryuji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Later, witness the Joya-no-kane bell ringing ceremony at Chion-in Temple, a traditional New Year’s practice in Japan. Lunch will be on your own. In the afternoon, explore Nijo Castle, an elegant former residence of the Tokugawa shoguns, followed by free time at Nishiki Market, known for its street food and local specialties. After the tour, return to your hotel. Dinner will be on your own. Overnight stay in Kyoto.
After breakfast and check-out, meet your ESG in the hotel lobby and travel by private vehicle to Osaka. Along the way, enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of the city. Begin with a traditional New Year dish—Toshikoshi soba—at Dotonbori Shopping Street. Continue the tour with a visit to the Umeda Sky Building’s Floating Garden Observatory for panoramic city views. Lunch will be on your own. In the afternoon, visit the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and Osaka Castle, a historical landmark. After the tour, check in to Hotel New Hankyu Osaka Annex (double room – 15 sqm) or a similar 3-star hotel. Dinner will be on your own. Overnight stay in Osaka.
After breakfast, meet your driver in the hotel lobby for a private transfer to Universal Studios Japan. You will enjoy a full day at the park using your normal entry pass. Explore themed zones such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Minion Park, Jurassic Park, and more. Lunch will be at your own expense inside the park. After a fun-filled day, return to the hotel by private transfer. Dinner is on your own. Overnight stay in Osaka.
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer by private vehicle to Kansai International Airport (KIX) for your departure flight. Your trip concludes with pleasant memories of your time in Japan.
